Privacy Policy

Effective Mental Health Care is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your health information. This policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your data in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other applicable privacy laws.

Information We Collect and How We Use It: We collect personal and health information to provide high-quality psychiatric care. This includes symptoms, medical history, medications, and insurance details. This data is used for diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, and coordinating your care with other healthcare providers involved in your treatment.

Data Sharing with Providers and Insurers: We may share your information with insurers to process payments and verify coverage. Clinical information may also be shared with your primary care physician or other specialists to ensure a coordinated approach to your health. We only share the minimum necessary information required for these purposes.

Patient Rights: Under HIPAA, you have the right to access your medical records, request corrections to your information, and obtain a copy of your health records. You may also request a history of disclosures we have made of your health information for purposes other than treatment, payment, or healthcare operations.

Electronic Communications: Protecting your digital privacy is vital. We utilize secure, encrypted platforms for telehealth and electronic record-keeping. While we take every precaution to secure these platforms, please be aware of the inherent risks of electronic communication and avoid sharing highly sensitive information via unencrypted email.

Data Security and Storage: Your records are stored in high-security, encrypted electronic health record (EHR) systems. Access is restricted to authorized clinic personnel who require the information to perform their duties. Physical documents, if any, are kept in locked, secure areas.

Contact and Questions: If you have questions about our privacy practices or wish to exercise your rights regarding your health information, please contact our privacy officer directly at the clinic. We are committed to addressing your concerns and ensuring your information remains confidential.

Consent to Bill

By providing your consent, you acknowledge that you have read and understand the billing policies of Effective Mental Health Care. We strive for transparency and clarity in all financial matters related to your treatment.

Insurance and Patient Responsibility: As a courtesy, we will bill your insurance provider directly. However, you remain ultimately responsible for all charges. You are responsible for any copays, coinsurance, or deductibles at the time of service. Please be aware that insurance may not cover all services; any non-covered balances are your responsibility.

Late Cancellations and No-Shows: Consistency is key to effective psychiatric care. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Failure to do so, or missing an appointment without notice, will result in a standard fee which is not covered by insurance and must be paid in full.

Authorization to Charge: By signing our intake forms, you authorize Effective Mental Health Care to charge the credit card on file for any outstanding balances, including copays, non-covered services, and cancellation fees. If a card is not available, we will send an electronic invoice to your designated email address.

Our goal is to support your mental health without the stress of financial ambiguity. If you have questions about your bill, insurance coverage, or payment plans, please do not hesitate to contact our billing office.
